Master of ceremonies Leech with an update for you ahead of Saturday's Inaugural Bristol Premier League...

Timings and Teams

Team 1: Imperial
Team 2: GLT
Team 3: Optimists

10:30 - 1vs2
13:00 - 3v2
15:30 - 1v3

How it will work?

The teams will be announced on Thursday night having been drawn from the below pool.

• Imperial will be captained by Michael Cox
• Optimists by Kevin Blackburn

Chris Mills and Peter Shortman co-own Optimists whilst Doug Wood and Jamie Reed co-own Imperial. They will bid for a tier 1 and a tier 2 marquee player.

Meet the marquee players

Tier 1:

James Bracey

Bracetool CC has been prolific this year. More hundreds than Virg has had cuddles. He’s the perfect all-rounder. Bats, keeps, bowls and fields and goes into the auction as the prized pick. However, a worrying lack of form after Space put the mockers on him will be in the back of our mogul’s minds. Will our Titans be confident the curse of Space isn’t a real thing? Time will tell.

William Rudge

A club stalwart who has been around longer at the club than Suyan has been alive. His wickets once earned him a donkey ride down Weston Super Mare beach. There can be no higher accolade. He goes in to the draft as our second pick. Expect him to go for tens of pounds.

Tier 2:

Neil Pollard

If the Titans are after a workhorse, a motivator, or a game changer they should look elsewhere. Having retired from T20 cricket in 2005 Pollard goes into the draft as a bit of an unknown quantity. Will he prove a bargain or will his lower price tag epitomise a false economy?

Louis Shaw

The England U19 star has been an integral part of Bristol’s 1st XI this year (when available and not at school). His cricket has been hampered by his roles in the Lego Movie franchise hence his low base price. Most agree he looks very good value as a tier 2 player. Especially, when set against Pollard.

Meet the Titans

Chris Mills

Curator of the famed Ninja delivery the financial mogul has innovated off the field as well as on. His brand of snap backs NinjaNightKap™ made the oligarch an estimated £.100,000,000 last year alone. The product’s success confounded its critics who described it as somewhat overpitched. Mr Mills will no doubt be keen to avoid the tier three marquee player and is likely to pay over the odds to do so.

Peter Shortman

This technological titan has been compared with Peter Jones by some commentators. Shortman names Elon Musk among his inspirations and Paul Redwood among his dependents. Having recently retired to scour the world for the next big time, Shortman brings an abundance of wealth in multiple currencies to the table.

Jamie Reed

Once the highest wicket taking slow bowler in the entire West of England Mr Reed has since turned his attention to the tap. The beer baron cut his teeth at Butcome Brewery before moving to AIM-listed Youngs & Co. He then led a leveraged MBO at Fullers and was named Bristol Grammar School’s favourite son in 2015. Mr Reed will be in the market for the very best and is unlikely to hold back.

Doug Wood

This smiling assassin will drive a hard bargain. Mr Wood – a former property magnate – now practically owns Portishead. Best known for his gentle away swing, his life in business has been anything but military medium. Expect a no-nonsense bid with a one game break clause. He has recently retired to run Woods bar on park street.
