Match Report by The Dowg's righthand man, Space
Marshdog's magical mystery tour this week took the 3rds just down the hill to face a team named after cider Woodpeckers.
After loosing the toss the home team elected to bat and came out in very positive nature.
The dog once again turned to his trusted sidekick Birchy, who again two weeks in a row took two wickets in two balls including a expertly bowled googly to dismiss the opposition captain.
After the impressive over Marshy allowed Birchy to set his own field. Subsequently after conducting the field like Boy George up came deep mid wicket, predictably followed by a full toss dispatched for four over deep mid wicket. This was followed by a double teapot by captain dog- if the dog had as many arms as Shiva it have been an octuplute teapot.
After 20 overs the opposition were in the region of 100-1.
Chippy returned to the team after becoming a farther over the winter and was back in the wickets after a fantastic catch by Ollie Eglon running backwards at full stretch at backward point.
After this point there was a steady fall of wickets and some tight bowling from
Space, Eglon and Lee at the death to restrict the host to 208-7 off there 45 overs.
Bristol resumed after tea with brothers in arms Lee and Eglon opening up.
It was a very watchful start for the first 10 overs until Ollie did his best Redwood impression trying to cutting one from off stump.
In came 3rd team run machine Toby Osman, who after a couple a lives, struck the ball cleanly all round the ground in an excellent 80, meanwhile the general looked composed at the other end showing all his experience carrying his bat for 83 red inkers.
Bristol knocked off the runs two down with 4 overs to spare, with Gareth Lindop who also became a father last year administering the plow to end the game.
A much better performance from the 'Dog Squad'.
Man of the match: Dan Pointon, helped restrict the opposition to 208!
