Match Report from our very own Spacial...
For the second week in a row the 3rd team went on their travels within a few mile radius to neighbors Abbots Leigh CC
In inclement conditions The Dog lost the toss and the hosts elected to bat.
After the start was delayed by rain, the motley crew took the field with Fat Dan opening the bowling after his bout of 3rdteamitus from the previous week.
FD and opening partner Chris White kept the opening 10 overs reasonably tight with Chris taking one to the shed.
Space entered the attack and much to FD's frustration actually managed to get the ball through on a wet wicket. After three solid overs the rain came back much to space's frustrations which led to one headheight beamer and two toe breakers in three balls the players came off for a rain break. Which tarnished a solid spell.
After the rain break Birchy again took two wickets in very difficult conditions for a leg spinner.
After spaces speady spell Sir Loin entered the areana bowling at the death taking two wickets and helping testrict the visitors total.
FD came back and took two wickets at the death and a run out by Stevie P meant the host were all out on the last ball for 198.
Bristol's reply got off to the worst possible start with perennial failure Bubbles nicking off and run machine Osman finally failing in front of second XI captain libary boy Leech.
After Sir Loin shortly followed Bristol were in trouble with there key three batters in the hutch and Adam Lee having to move down the order with a bad hamstring.
This lead to a promotion for Chris White who played some powerful shots before being dismissed for 30odd.
While Bubbles was kicked to the score box Birchy was compiling a nice innings to try to drag Bristol back into the game making a well made 50.
Unfortunately this was not enough and Bristol were all out for just over 100.
Things did not go the 3rds way today, but in reality lost to the better team on the day.
Much to ponder ahead of next weeks game!
Thank you to AB for umpiring and Tommo scoring the second half! (No duckworth Lewis!)
