Win Two For Marshy's Men. Here's the view of our very own Spacial..

Space's grammatically perfect take on the weekend...

The Marshdog Mystery tour returned home to the Failand arena to face Bristol Lions.

Again for the 4th game in a row we lost the toss and were inserted by the opposition in overcast conditions, alas on a very good wicket.

Ellie Oglon opened up with perennial underachiever Bubbles/Pea Head/De Vier/Spike.

Bristol found themselves in trouble early with Oglon, White, Orange Kev and Henry back in the crappy white shed early on. With Indika bowling well for the vistors.

This brought youngster Arthur Adams to the crease along with Bubbles who was looking in control (as ever!) at the other end. The youngster batted with excellent controlled aggression making a good 27.

Bristol had always scored at a good rate but had lost 5 wickets before the midway point in the innings.

Self confessed hater of cricket Mr Paul causally strolled the crease after he was satisfied the 1st XI wicket was remarked. In typical fashion he proceeded to bat like most people can only dream of timing the exquisitely to all parts of the ground. Even coach Stav was gushing with praise of PR's innings, leaving the 2nd XI thinking what might have been if he was playing 500 yards down the round.

With probably Bristols best two batters at the crease Bubbles and PR rotated the strike brilliantly while putting away the bad ball, with the former finally being dismissed for a very important 81, which held the innings together in the early stages.

After the dismissal of Bubbles PR continued the bat beautifully wielding his willow like Yoda with a light sabre. Mr Paul finally got bored and was dismissed for an superb 108.

This gave Bristol and imposing total of 318.

Bristol set about defending there total and took 2 early wickets shared between Danny Pointon and Chris White, although the opposition kept up with the rate mainly due to the number of wides bowled.

Well ........... at this point my illustrious involvement in the game commenced.

I could talk all day about dropping a catch that you would expect Stephen Hawking to make, taking two wickets with the first two balls, bowling numerous double and a couple of treble bouncers, much to the entertainment of teammates and spectators alike.

At this point a valid argument could be made that Ice Road in two full length arm cast would have been more effective. Which overall was part of a bad weekend for Space. It should be a lesson to all younger members of the club - keep practising hard with the aim never to play in the same side as players like me.

Luckily the team this week included youngsters Henry and Arthur Adams who were thrusted into the attack to replace the inept Space. Henry bowled with good pace and control for his age taking 3-36 along with Arthur 1-20, with the brothers spells effectively ending the contest as the opposition were bowled out for 143.

Many thanks to Sarah Probert for scoring and AB for umpiring even though he did initially give a wide when a Bristol Lions player nicked it through gully off Arthur and gave a player out bowled (again initially) when his lighter fell out his pocket. Apart from that AB you were great especially the bat pad decision and living my the motto if in doubt wide it when pony is bowling.

Overall some fine individual performances gave the 3rds a convincing win, although hopefully in future less wides need to be bowled to put together a run up the table and well the reporters performance probably needs to improve or the dog needs to find a replacement.

Id like to apologise to Chris and Tommy for the loss of wickets/fantasy points this weekend, Chris I will try to make it up to you this week- Tommy when Rudgey finally picks me for the 1s I will make it up to you.
